Danesh's Home-baked Poppyseed Cookies
I love home-baked treats for many reasons. They contain no additives and preservatives, are delectably delicious, made from the best ingredients using traditional baking techniques, controlled sugar and fats, and almost always undeniably made with love, passion and care. If you love to bake for your friends and loved ones, I can only imagine you kneading the yummy dough with a smile on your face and hands so warm, they really do make home-baked treats really special and every bite of your home-baked treats is a little bit of love from you. How nice!Danesh does not like desserts generally but he enjoys baking when the mood calls for it, and he was kind enough to share some of his very yummy poppyseed cookies with me. I have to add I'm one of the lucky 5 and when these cookies arrived at my door, they were still warm and freshly baked from the oven!!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup canola oil
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup milk (dairy)
1/2 cup poppy seeds
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Preparation:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celcius.
2. In a mixing bowl, mix oil and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla and milk. Add poppy seeds.
3. Add flour, and mix lightly until just smooth.
4. Break off a piece of dough. Roll on floured surface. Cut into circles using a glass or into shapes using cookie cutters.
5. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350°F. for 12 minutes or until edges are golden.

Oh thank you for dropping by! =)
Hi Mich! I read the comment you left at Ickle's blog that you're going to Melb this July? I was there the same period in 07. If you get the chance here are 3 places I highly recommend (from a fellow foodie to another):
- Miss Marple's (located at the Dandenong Ranges) - it's a quaint little tea house which serves excellent tea, devonshire scones (served with fresh cream and jam of course!), trifle, cakes, the works! And it's popularly known as Christmas in July, firstly cos its winter, and secondly that's how the place is decorated. With a real fireplace and all. It's truly quite an experience. http://www.missmarples.com.au/
- Stax Cafe (located at Little La Trobe St, directly opposite RMIT) - a great breakfast/brunch place. I had the best eggs benedict there. Oh and the hollandaise sauce.. it was divine. hee! http://www.yourrestaurants.com.au/guide/stax/
- Koko Black (located at Bourke St, and Collins St) - for the ultimate chocolate fix. There's nothing more comforting than sipping a mug of hot chocolate on a cold wintery day. You can even buy their ready packed chocolate flakes to make your own hot choc. http://www.kokoblack.com/
Hope you have a good time!
p.s your cookies look fab!
